Triple Boot (Install Linux, Mac OSX & Windows 10 all on your Mac)

BACK UP ALL YOUR FILES BEFORE YOU ERASE YOUR COMPUTER / MAKE PARTITIONS!

You erase and install operating systems at your own risk.

If you are unsure about computers you might make a mistake. I do not take any responsibility, this is what I did to my Mac Computer to run Linux, Mac OSX and Windows 10. I thought I'd share how I did it.

Check the system requirements for each OS to make sure you can run it.

I used a 1TB Mac Mini

500GB for Windows 10

250GB for Linux and

250GB for Mac OSX

On Mac OSX, download a Linux distro such as "Linux Mint"https://www.linuxmint.com/download.php

Download: https://www.balena.io/etcher/

this application will let you make a USB stick bootable with a linux iso image

Download Windows 10: https://www.microsoft.com/en-gb/software-download/windows10

On your Mac, open "Boot Camp" from utilities. This will let you select the Windows 10 iso to make a bootable USB stick to install Windows 10 on your mac

System requirements: https://support.apple.com/en-gb/HT204048

BACK UP ALL YOUR FILES BEFORE YOU ERASE YOUR COMPUTER / MAKE PARTITIONS!

Turn on your Mac while holding "Command + R"

I wanted a fresh, clean install for the whole computer so I erased the whole hard disk to begin with: Select disk utility

Erase the main disk

WARNING ALL YOUR FILES AND APPS WILL BE DELETED! Once your computer has been erased - make 3 partitions to the disk

a) Mac OS Extended (Journaled)

b) ExFat

c) MS DOS FAT - ( it will also, be formatted again as NTFS later by Windows but format as MS DOS FAT initially - this will prevent an error I had on a first try when I originally formated it as ExFat)

Exit the disk utility and select the option to re install Mac OSX to the Mac OS Extended (Journaled) Partition

After Mac OSX is installed, Turn off your computer

With the Bootable USB stick for Linux plugged in,

Turn on your computer while holding "alt"

You will see an option to boot from the USB drive

Select and press enter Follow the on screen instructions to get to the installation screen It will ask you where to install to

Click other and select the partition you made earlier "ExFat"

In the partitioning menu on screen, look for "Mount Point"
This needs to be added so type " / " in the Mount point column

Follow the on screen instructions to finish the installation Turn off your computer and remove the USB drive Plug in the Windows 10 USB stick

Turn on your computer while holding "alt"

You will see the option to boot from the USB drive

Select and press enter Follow the on screen instructions

it will at first say you can not install windows

select the partition you made earlier "MS-DOS FAT"

Click on the Format button to make this NTFS needed for windows

Follow the on screen instructions

Once windows has been installed, run the Boot Camp drivers etc which are Included on the Bootcamp USB stick

Now, Windows 10, Mac OSX and a Linux Distro all have a home on your Mac Computer

By holding "alt" on start up you can choose whether to start Mac, Windows or Linux.

You will see 2 Boot options

One is Mac OSX and the other will load options to run Linux or Windows In Mac OSX, in system preferences, choose "start up disk" you can choose whether to start Mac OSX automatically on power on or not. -Christopher KAYE - Void Vertex
